USA, 20th century advertising
The 20th century
saw the growth of the "brand" phenomenon. The old model of "Mr. Smith's
delicious comestibles" was replaced by a package that included a product
line with a name and a logo. See this, think that, then, hopefully,
buy it. Kind of a pavlovian type response. Over time it seems
to be worth the effort, but in the long run, well, we shall see, won't
we?
