EGYPT
    During the entire three thousand years of the pharaonate Egypt had a non-coinage commodity economy.  The very last pharaoh issued a couple of gold coins.  There are a few pieces from the Persian occupation.  The real coinage starts with the Greeks.  An idiosyncracy of the coins of the Ptolemies is that pretty much all of them have the name "Ptolemy" on them, and how are you supposed to decide which Ptolemy it was who issued that particular coin?  Well, the experts change their minds from time to time, so "no one knows for sure" is the one certain statement one can make regarding Ptolemaic attributions.
