CHINA, local coins at the end of the Ming dynasty, 1644-81 AD
When the Manchus entered China in 1644 to "support" the Ming against a local rebellion, and then took over, some Ming retainers headed south to try to salvage something.  Meanwhile a bunch of warlords, bureaucrats, criminals, and other various adventurers made their moves around the country.  Most of them lasted a few years before they overshot or were suppressed.  A few issued coins.

Er Li refers to a silver value, making this an inflation or sucker coin.  What's a sucker coin?  You go to the treasury to get paid and they give you this chit for silver, you try to exchange it, no one will make the trade.
