DENMARK,
For various reasons having to do with being so far away from the ancient metropoli there were no coins in Denmark until the end of the so-called "Dark Ages."   Thereafter began a long series of royal coins, unbroken to today.  Until relatively recently collector interest at home and abroad was desultory, but that changed about 2000 or so, and now the Danish coin scene is possibly the most dynamic of the Scandinavian nations.
