HAITI,
    Well known notoriously badly run country taken advantage of by its own upper class and by "outside interests."  When the slaves there threw off their French masters their success scared the Americans to death and they (the Americans) threw all sorts of obstacles in the way of the new government.  Napoleon sold the Louisiana Territory in part to finance an unsuccessful attempt to reconquer Haiti.  This nation has never had a fair shake.

HAITI, silver 2 reales 1773-FM, Mexican coin c/m RF in 5x2mm rectangle, this is a well known but unassigned countermark.  Haiti is one of the possibilities. Patchy black patina, scs, VF on fair $95.00 sold 9/18/2009
