This shah became something
of a megalomaniac in his later years and chose to identify himself with
his country in an organic fashion. In ancient times such rulers declared
themselves divine. Muhammad Reza got as close to that as he could
but he forgot that he was really just an American puppet, thus we have
what we have today.
