IRAN
Iran may contain the site of the world's oldest civilization, or then again, maybe not.  It is exceptionally old though, at least as old as Egypt, maybe as old as Sumer.  On this page will be only the "modern" stuff of the last 400 years or so.

This shah became something of a megalomaniac in his later years and chose to identify himself with his country in an organic fashion.  In ancient times such rulers declared themselves divine.  Muhammad Reza got as close to that as he could but he forgot that he was really just an American puppet, thus we have what we have today.
