USA, hard times tokens
A set of tokens roughly of the period 1835-45 or so.  Many political of the period, some relating to slavery, more to the aborted experiment of the Bank of the United States, which was basically an attempt to privatize the treasury and thus the currency.  I suppose 160 years later we can breathe a sigh of relief.  There were also plenty of private store tokens too.  Interestingly (or at least I think so) the coins of the period are not particularly rare.  There was in the general time frame also a bloom of countermarking, mostly of large cents.
